So… the year of sweater vests, crocs, crochet tops and baguette bags is over. Some might sigh in relief, others may look back in cringe, and many will carry on, as even though the year is up, the trends haven’t died (yet).
But 2022 does already have a lot to say for itself in terms of fashion. I mean, do I even need to utter the word UGG? Nope. Frankly, I’m here for the UGG. I have no clue if I am going to personally invest. I sort of gave up on UGGs when I gave mine to a family friend years ago, but I am so for people indulging in warmth and comfort when it comes to their feet…really! MUCH better than a heel trend, so I'm curious to see where it goes.
So, here are 6 trends so far for 2022.
1) THE BIG WARM BOOT
So yeah, I’ve mentioned UGGs, but they aren’t the only big boot that’s flying off the shelves. Moon Boots (yeah, those expensive boots you see people walking around in when you go skiing) are in fashion.
They’re cool, weird, and comfy. I’m all for it, particularly the full-on-fluff. Why the heck not?
Styling tips: try a midi skirt/wide-leg trousers with the taller boots, and long trousers with the ankle UGGs.

2) THE HIKING SHOE
SALOMONS!!! Who decided these low top walking boots were cool? No clue. But they are. They fricking are. Despite being trainer of the year in 2019 (US), they did not resurface in such force in the UK until late last year, and people are absolutely rocking them. I’m assuming they’re comfortable (who knows? They’re expensive to try out).
Styling tips? These look great with trousers, long shorts, or a long skirt.

3) OUTDOOR CHIC
This is a similar one but outdoor chic is really having its time. But again, it’s pricey. Arc’teryx grew loads much on tiktok last autumn (thanks teens cos this is not a cheap trend to hop on), but now that Salomons, And Wander, and other brands become increasingly popular, especially due to the Salomon X And Wander collaboration, outdoor vibes have become IN(door). If you’re curious about this one, whilst expensive, it’s defo one of the more practical trends, so that’s an incentive to invest.
Styling tips: these pieces are quite basic in design, so really wear them with anything! The And Wander bag with a long trench coat would be great, and the shoes with some straight leg cargos…

4) SCARVES
Scarves obviously appear when the weather gets colder. But this season two are screaming in particular. One being the Acne Studios scarf. It feels wrong not to mention it and yes it’s beautiful but I'm not going to rave about it because the label is so fricking labely that it’s basically saying “hi yes I spent £200 plus on this thing around my neck.” not really here for that. But they are gorgeous.
The other trend though that I do love and did I not already own 3 scarves would be scouring the net for is graphic knit scarves. Lots of places are doing it, especially independent and small brands on Instagram or

Depop. I’m particularly obsessed with this orange one.
Styling tips: probably a coat and hat, it’s cold outside.

5) STREETWEAR
Little and growing streetwear brands are popping up EVERYWHERE on the internet. Corteiz, Drama Call, Corvidae, Arte Antwerp etc. I love it. They’re not cheap but when you consider the price of some of the other trends right now, and when compared to Stussy (large streetwear brand), they’re usually cheaper. A lot of them operate on a drop and password basis. Ie, you need the password to access the drop, and once it’s sold out, that’s it. (except for resale) Which, aside from making them exclusive, is actually much more sustainable than big brands as they don’t over produce.
I personally love streetwear and tracksuits as a trend, it’s comfortable, but can be dressed up, contrasted, and really just played around with to match everyone’s taste. Let’s keep it up!
Styling tips: it’s really up to you! You could go all-out streetwear and wear tracksuits, or break it up and don a pair of tailored trousers…

6) Last but not least… FINGERLESS GLOVES
Fingerless gloves are a pure joy. I KNOW they aren’t as warm as normal gloves, but something about your palm being warm does mean your fingers have a bit more support on those nippy days, whilst we are still able to perform a vital human function: use our mobiles. They’re also SO COOL. You can get them in different styles, colours, you can even (wink wink, i’ve been learning), crochet or knit them yourself!
Styling tips: again not really necessary here BUT great with loads of rings poking out.
